3.7mm “Carrington Event 2”, TRI-1 model in Kirinite
3.7mm “Carrington Event 2”, TRI-1 model in Kirinite. Golden sunspots work their way to the surface through a glowing layer of orange molten rock. These picks could cause the next Carrington Event.
The TRI-1 is my first shape, I was looking for a standard sized, but broader-shouldered plectrum, more triangular but not as pointy, and smooth corners and bevels all round. An unbeveled griphole, since a bevel undid most of the functionality of the grip hole. Too subtle, you need to feel the sharper edge.
What do you call these? TRI-1.
Kirinite is an amazing material, widely adopted by the plectrier community. And rightly so. Rich, colourful, good to work with, hard wearing, smooth finishing, and to top it all off, it makes your amp suddenly go to 11. It really does give you more volume, even if the tone quality reflects the material a little bit: it is quite a dense sound, compared with the airyness of Plexiglas® or the natural warmth of casein. But boy, can you play the heck out of these!
If your pick tin is like a toolbox, your Kirinite plectrum is the big wrench. Every toolbox needs at least one big wrench.
Out of stock
The plectra you see in the shop are basically ready to go, but I will want to check them one more time, polish up, package and all that. Please allow 1-3 business days to ship them out.
I realise that a plectrum is a very personal thing, and I designed most of my shapes to my liking, both in appearance and in performance. If, for whatever reason, you don't like your Meantone plectrum, you are welcome to send it back to me, in the same condition as it reached you. Upon receipt of the plectrum I will refund you.
But in all honesty, it's simply cheaper and easier to keep it in your collection, and who knows, you might change your mind. It happens.
